Shape Cards
Shapes are everywhere once you start looking: the round clock on the wall, the square dice in the games cupboard, the triangle sign on the walk to the park.
These printable cards pair bright, simple shapes with real-world photos. They invite your little one to name shapes, notice them in everyday objects, and go hunting for them around the house and garden. The set starts with familiar favourites like circles, squares and triangles, then moves on to hexagons, trapeziums and crescents.
Hold up a card and name the shape together, tracing the edge with a finger and counting the sides. Match each photo card to its shape. Sort the cards into straight-sided and curvy shapes, or choose one and see how many you can find before lunch.
What's included
16 shape cards: triangle, square, rectangle, circle, pentagon, hexagon, heptagon, octagon, star, heart, oval, trapezium, decagon, semicircle, diamond and crescent
8 real-world photo cards to match
A cover page with 6 simple ways to use the cards
A4 landscape, ready to print, cut and laminate (4 pages)
Made for children aged 3 to 6, and easy to adapt for younger or older siblings. Younger children can start with the simple shapes and leave the trickier ones for later.
Created by a qualified early childhood teacher, and part of Joyora's 3 to 4 home learning program. Joyora subscribers can download these cards free through the app.
