Stop, Slow & Go Cards
Learning to stop on a signal is one of the most useful skills a little body can practise, at the park, near roads or in a busy car park. These printable cards turn it into a game. Hold up a colour or a photo, and your child runs, slows down or freezes to match.
There are three signals to play with:
Green means go: run, skip or zoom across the space
Orange means slow: slow right down and walk carefully
Red means stop: freeze like a statue and show a stop hand
What's included
6 cards: 3 colour cards (green, orange and red) and 3 matching photo cards (running, walking and a stop hand)
A cover page explaining each signal, with simple ideas for using the cards
Ways to use them
Match each colour card to its photo and talk about what each signal means
Play stop, slow and go in the backyard, a hallway or at the park
Swap roles so your child holds up the cards and you follow the signals
Add new signals as your child grows confident, like jump, hop or change direction
Link it to road safety by talking about traffic lights on your next walk
Good to know
Best suited to ages 2 to 5
Print, cut and laminate for lots of play
Created by a qualified early childhood teacher
Joyora members will find this game in our 3 to 4 and 4 to 5 programs, along with more movement activities in the app
